Our Overview.
U2 really crossed over into the big league with their fifth album which was one the most hotly anticipated records of 1987. The band pulled back from the experimental flavours of ‘The Unforgettable Fire’ and aimed for a straight rock sound and conventional song structures. The formula led to scoring three hit singles and it became their biggest selling album of their entire career.
It’s already been remastered and expanded before (for their 20th anniversary) but now for it’s 30th anniversary we have a colour sleeve and new extras. The double CD contains a live show from Madison Square Garden in 1987. The deluxe 4CD edition also contains two discs of alternate 2017 mixes, b-sides and outtakes. There is also an 84pp book. All this is also available on vinyl spread across seven discs..
